Use Claude in ZCode with a custom provider
Add AI in IDE to Z.ai's ZCode desktop app as a custom provider and use Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, or Haiku 4.5 next to the built-in GLM models.
This page follows ZCode's model connection guide. It was not run end to end in ZCode; the base URL values follow the convention ZCode documents for DeepSeek, and the same values were tested against AI in IDE from other clients.
Setup at a glance
- Create the API key. Open API Keys, create a key, and choose the AWSQ or CCMAX channel.
- Add the provider. Open Model settings, then click Add provider at the bottom of the provider list.
- Fill in the fields.
- Name:
AI in IDE - Anthropic endpoint:
https://api.aiinide.com - OpenAI endpoint:
https://api.aiinide.com/v1 - API key: your dashboard key
- Name:
- Add models. Click Add model and enter the IDs by hand:
claude-sonnet-5-5,claude-opus-5-5,claude-haiku-4-5-20251001. - Enable it. Turn on the provider's switch, pick a Claude model, and send a short prompt. The request appears in Usage.
Why the two endpoints differ
ZCode's DeepSeek example uses https://api.deepseek.com/anthropic for Anthropic and https://api.deepseek.com/v1 for OpenAI. https://api.deepseek.com/anthropic is also the value DeepSeek gives Claude Code, which appends /v1/messages, so ZCode's Anthropic field takes the API root without /v1. For AI in IDE that root is the bare host. The OpenAI value includes the version, so it is https://api.aiinide.com/v1.
If a request fails with 404, check that the Anthropic endpoint does not end in /v1. If it fails with 400 This endpoint requires a CODEX API key, the OpenAI endpoint is missing /v1.
Config file
ZCode stores providers in ~/.zcode/v2/config.json. A provider's options accepts only apiKey, baseURL, apiKeyRequired, and headers; other fields are ignored without an error. Use the settings panel unless you need to copy the setup to another machine.
Models
| Model ID | Channel | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
claude-opus-5-5 | AWSQ, CCMAX | hard refactors, long agent runs |
claude-sonnet-5-5 | AWSQ, CCMAX | everyday coding |
claude-haiku-4-5-20251001 | AWSQ, CCMAX | quick edits, cheap checks |
ZCode lets you change the context window of custom-provider models; the change applies to new sessions. Rates are on Models and pricing.
FAQ
Which base URL does ZCode need for AI in IDE?
https://api.aiinide.com in the Anthropic endpoint field and https://api.aiinide.com/v1 in the OpenAI endpoint field.
Does this replace my GLM Coding Plan?
No. GLM models keep using your Z.ai or BigModel account. AI in IDE requests are billed only to your AI in IDE key.
Why do I get a 400 error after changing the reasoning level?
ZCode notes that third-party deployments can accept different reasoning levels than the official endpoint. Lower or turn off the reasoning level for that model and retry.
